The South Dakota Chiropractic Peer Review Committee is a reviewing service set up under the South Dakota Board of Chiropractic Examiners to review patient treatment performed by South Dakota Doctors of Chiropractic. A review can be requested by a patient, a doctor of chiropractic or a concerned third party. The review is performed at no cost for a patient who has concerns about improper treatment, utilization or billing practices. A doctor of chiropractic or a third party is charged a fee of $300 for a standard care review and an additional fee of $300 if the case has rehab treatment as well as standard chiropractic care. The review process is performed by committee members who are South Dakota licensed D.C.s and actively practicing in South Dakota. All reviews are performed through contact without the committee chairman who sets the review process in motion and who finalizes the processing of each review that is requested. All reviewing doctors are approved by the Board of Examiners before they can be on the committee. There are certain forms that need to be filled out in order to begin the reviewing process.
