South Dakota Board of Chiropractic Examiners

Reciprocity Licensing

Mission Statement: The licensing division of the South Dakota Board of Chiropractic Examiners has the responsibility for licensing qualified chiropractors wishing to practice in South Dakota as well as maintain status of active practicing chiropractors as well as those chiropractors licensed but not practicing (inactive) in South Dakota.

Exam Fee: $100

Initial License Fee: $200 active, $50 inactive

License Renewal Fee: $100

Term: Annual

The South Dakota Board of Chiropractic Examiners has adopted the following policy concerning four criteria for being eligible for application for Reciprocity under the statutory and regulatory requirements, those being;

  1. Applicant has passed all parts of national boards required at the time of graduation. If the applicant graduated after January 1998, he/she must have passed all four parts of the national boards; the applicant mush have successfully passed an approved special purposes exam for chiropractic (SPEC) or the National Board Part IV within the previous five years of applying for licensure in South Dakota.
  2. Applicant has actively practiced a minimum of five years immediately preceding the submission of the application;
  3. Applicant has no investigations pending; and
  4. Applicant has no adverse actions taken by another state board.
