FDA Food Code Webinars Postponed
The South Dakota Department of Health’s Office of Health Protection is postponing the previously scheduled FDA Food Code Update webinars and stakeholder meetings. This postponement will allow us time to finalize a complete set of materials and training resources that will better support food establishment owners, operators, and community partners as we prepare for the potential transition to the 2022 FDA Food Code.
Our intention is to hold a series of virtual stakeholder meetings throughout the winter and spring. We are currently developing a detailed implementation plan and timeline and will share those updates as soon as they are finalized.
Thank you for your patience and continued engagement. We look forward to providing more comprehensive information and opportunities for collaboration in the coming months.

Proper food service, lodging, and campground safety and hygiene is an important part of maintaining the health of the public.
The Office of Health Protection licenses food services, lodging establishments, and campgrounds to ensure health and safety standards are met, and public health is protected. It handles complaint investigations involving such facilities, while routine inspections are conducted by the State Inspection Program in the Department of Public Safety.
Health Protection also conducts environmental health investigations.
