The Environmental Microbiology Laboratory can test ground and surface water for total and fecal coliform, Escherichia coli and swimming pools, spas, lakes, beaches and rivers for Pseudomonas bacteria.
Drinking water is tested from municipal systems and private wells.
Testing may be done for iron related and sulfur reducing bacteria. Plate counts for water samples are performed.
The lab tests food samples in suspected foodborne outbreak cases for bacteria.
