The Environmental Microbiology Laboratory can test ground and surface water (lakes, beaches, rivers, and wastewater) for total coliform, fecal coliform, and Escherichia coli.
Swimming pools and spas can be tested for total coliform and Pseudomonas bacteria.
Drinking water from municipal systems and private wells can be tested for total coliform and Escherichia coli.
Water may also be analyzed for iron-related bacteria, sulfur-reducing bacteria, and heterotrophic plate counts.
