The South Dakota Ryan White Part B Program aims to assist low-income, HIV-infected individuals with the cost of specific healthcare needs.

The South Dakota Ryan White Part B Program is funded by an annual federal grant. Benefits are determined by federal guidelines and a state advisory council made up of representatives from health care, those with HIV disease, support groups, and state agencies.

Eligibility & Benefits

To be eligible for the program, an applicant must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a South Dakota resident
  • Recently or previously diagnosed with HIV
  • Have an Income at or less than 300% of the federal poverty level

Benefits available include:

  • AIDS Drug Reimbursement Program (ADAP) – financial assistance for specific prescription drugs - formulary
  • Patient Care (Home and Community-Based Care) – financial assistance for specific outpatient medical and support services
  • Continuation of Health Insurance – financial assistance for insurance premiums, deductibles, and co-payments

Complete and submit the application form. Applicants will be notified in writing whether they are eligible for services or whether they will be placed on a waiting list for services. One service available to those on the waiting list is case management services. A case manager can help you find other resources to assist you.

The Department of Health administers the program. Due to limited funding, applicants may be placed on a waiting list.
