The responder safety and health capability describes the ability of healthcare organizations to protect the safety and health of healthcare workers from a variety of hazards during emergencies and disasters. This includes processes to equip, train and provide other resources needed to ensure healthcare workers at the highest risk for adverse exposure, illness and injury are adequately protected from all hazards during response and recovery operations.
Pharmaceutical Caches
Having immediate access to antiviral drugs and antibiotics for bioterrorism attacks are absolutely critical for saving lives and stopping the spread of disease. Caches of these essential medications have been purchased for health care workers across the state.
Personal Protective Equipment
Funding has been provided to allow hospitals to maximize its inventory of PPE. This includes masks, respirators and decontamination suits. In addition to the PPE available within our partnering healthcare organization, caches of PPE have been established at strategic locations across the state.
