Avoid Opioid Prescription Addiction
Avoid Opioid SD is a joint effort between the South Dakota Department of Health and the Department of Social Services to address opioid abuse and misuse in the state as part of the South Dakota Opioid Abuse Strategic Plan.
Opioids are highly addictive narcotics commonly prescribed to treat pain. South Dakota opioid deaths have increased since 2012. While they may provide relief for those struggling with chronic pain, opioids should be used only as directed by a prescriber.
