Scrubs Camp Speakers

Speaker FAQs

Scrubs Camps and Camp Med events are hands-on career exploration opportunities focused on healthcare professions. During these camps, healthcare professionals meet with students, school staff, and parents to share their experiences and inspire students to pursue careers in healthcare.

Each camp varies depending on its location and whether it is a Scrubs Camp or Camp Med event. Scrubs Camp sessions generally last around 30 minutes, while Camp Med sessions are shorter, typically about 10 minutes. Both formats are designed to give students a meaningful glimpse into healthcare careers through engaging presentations and activities.

We ask that roughly one-fourth of your presentation focus on discussing your career—what you do, the education required, and why you chose this field. (Example topics can be found on the next tab.) The remainder of your time should involve a hands-on or interactive activity. Students consistently say they enjoy sessions most when they can actively participate.

If you need help developing a presentation or activity, please contact our office, or reach out to the camp organizer if you already have a contact at the location where you plan to present.

What is your job/formal job title/where do you work? What made you choose your career? Where did you go to school/train and how much schooling was required? What do you do/what is a typical day like for you? What do you like best about your job? What classes should students take in high school and in postsecondary programs? What type of volunteer experience(s) did you engage in? What type of part-time job(s) did you have? What is your work environment: alone/group, office/open area, sitting/on feet, etc.?
