The Recruitment Assistance Program (RAP) provides qualifying physicians, dentists, physician assistants, certified nurse practitioners, certified nurse midwives, or certified registered nurse anesthetists incentive payment in return for three continuous years of practice in an eligible rural community.

Rural Healthcare Facility Recruitment Assistance Program

The 2024 Rural Healthcare Facility Recruitment Assistance Program application cycle opened on May 1, 2024. This program provides a $10,000 incentive payment to eligible health professionals who complete a three-year, full-time service commitment in a community with a population of 10,000 or less.

2024 EMS Regional Services Designation Grant

The South Dakota Department of Health has announced a new grant opportunity, funded by the American Rescue Plan Act, aimed at supporting Emergency Medical Services (EMS) across the state. This initiative, stemming from the Regional Services Designation analysis of 2023, offers $7.5 million for EMS providers to enhance their services.
