South Dakota Public Health Laboratory's Forensic Chemistry Section Earns Prestigious ANAB Accreditation

PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Health proudly announces the official accreditation of the Forensic Chemistry Section at the South Dakota Public Health Laboratory (SDPHL) by the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB). This significant achievement, granted on Dec. 21, 2023, marks a new achievement and a historic milestone for the laboratory and reflects its ongoing commitment to excellence in forensic testing. 

"The accreditation of the Forensic Chemistry Section is a testament to our state's dedication to the highest standards in forensic testing. This achievement recognizes the hard work and expertise of the laboratory team, and reinforces our commitment to top-tier public health services for South Dakota residents," said Secretary Melissa Magstadt.

ANAB's decision follows a meticulous review, confirming that the Forensic Chemistry Section not only meets, but exceeds the rigorous accreditation requirements. Accredited providers, including the South Dakota Public Health Laboratory, are expected to uphold these high standards and adhere to ANAB's Terms and Conditions for Accreditation.

This accomplishment puts the Forensic Chemistry Section at the forefront of forensic testing, setting a benchmark for excellence. The laboratory remains dedicated to surpassing ANAB's expectations and providing exceptional forensic testing services to the community.
