Department of Health Requests Participation in Maternal and Child Health Needs Assessment Survey

PIERRE, SD – The Department of Health (DOH) is requesting South Dakota residents to participate in the Maternal and Child Health Needs Assessment Survey, an essential tool in understanding and addressing the health needs of mothers, infants, children, and families across the state.

The survey, conducted by the department in collaboration with various stakeholders, gathers crucial data to identify areas for improvement in maternal and child health services and programs. By participating in this survey, individuals can contribute directly to the development of strategies to enhance the well-being of mothers and children in South Dakota.

"Our ability to improve maternal and child health outcomes relies heavily on understanding the needs and challenges faced by families in our communities,” said Department of Health Secretary, Melissa Magstadt. “By completing the Maternal and Child Health Needs Assessment Survey, residents of South Dakota have a direct opportunity to shape the future of maternal and child health initiatives in our state."

The survey covers a wide range of topics, including access to care, utilization of community services, and other factors affecting health and well-being. The insights gathered from respondents will inform decision-making processes and help allocate resources effectively to address the most pressing health needs of mothers and children.

Secretary Magstadt added, "Your participation in this survey is vital. Your input will guide us in developing targeted interventions and policies to promote the health and well-being of mothers, infants, children, and families throughout South Dakota."

The Maternal and Child Health Needs Assessment Survey is available online and takes approximately 5-10 minutes to complete. All responses are confidential.
