South Dakota Board of Chiropractic Examiners

Licensing

Mission Statement:  The licensing division of the South Dakota Board of Chiropractic Examiners has the responsibility for licensing qualified chiropractors wishing to practice in South Dakota as well as maintaining status of active practicing chiropractors as well as those chiropractors licensed but not practicing (inactive) in South Dakota.

Application/Transcript Deadline:   15 days prior to exam date
Exam Fee:   $100.00
Initial License Fee:   $200.00 Active, $50.00 Inactive
License Renewal Fee:  $200.00
Term: Annual

Students:   May complete board exam requirements up to 90 days prior to graduating. License approval will be given following receipt of Part IV transcripts to the Board in late January or late July.

Acupuncture

National Board Examinations:

Physiotherapy:   Termed Physiotherapy

  • Certification:   Included in chiropractic license
  • Additional Education:   Must be obtained in a CCE approved college
  • Additional Examination:   Must have NBCE Physiotherapy exam
  • Additional Fee:   None

Education Requirements

Min # years pre-professional education required for licensure 2 years, however, the minimum requirements for licensure in the state of South Dakota for licensees graduating on or after January 1, 2011 will include a baccalaureate degree in addition to a doctor of chiropractic degree.  The Bachelor’s degree may be granted by an accredited undergraduate program or by the chiropractic college or university that can offer a dual degree.

Accreditation for Chiropractic Colleges:   Council on Chiropractic Education, or the equivalent; Must be fully accredited
