North Kansas City, MO

The City of North Kansas City is hiring Firefighter/EMTs and/or Firefighter/Paramedics.

Compensation & Benefits: The starting pay rate for Firefighter/Paramedic is $45,983 annually ($17.62 hourly) plus a $2,500 incentive for licensed Paramedics depending on experience and qualifications upon attaining regular employee status. The starting pay rate for Firefighter/EMT is $38,149 annually ($14.63 hourly). The City may offer a one-time lump sum incentive payment depending on experience and qualifications.

The City offers a full range of benefits including medical and dental insurance, paid leave, both a defined benefit plan (Pension) and a defined contribution plan (457) and a tuition reimbursement program.

24-hour personnel work the Berkeley schedule and have one Kelly day in each 28 day work period.

Individuals must possess current Firefighter I and II Certifications and CPAT. However, the City will consider hiring paramedics who will commit to earning the firefighter certifications (the City will pay for the fire academy).

Minimum Qualifications: Firefighter/EMT - Must possess and maintain certifications and qualifications necessary to meet NFPA 1001 and 1002 standards. HAZMAT Operations and Awareness Certification preferred; Must possess & maintain EMT-B License with Missouri State Certification or National Registry; Must have passed the Blue River or Johnson County Community College Firefighter written entry exam, or equivalent if applying from outside the KC metro area; Must possess and maintain current American Heart Association Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation or Red Cross CPR Certifications; Must possess a valid driver's license; Must pass annual physical exam as prescribed by City policy.

Firefighter/Paramedic - Same as above, plus: Must possess and maintain Paramedic License with Missouri State Certification or National Registry; Must possess Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification, PHTLS, PALS preferred.

Located in Salem, just off I-90 between Sioux Falls and Mitchell, McCook County EMS provides ALS service to all of McCook County and part of Hanson County, which includes roughly 7 communities. Our service has a call volume of approximately 400 calls a year. Scheduling typically consists of 13 - 24 hour days off a month.
