Continuing Education and Recertification
Continuing Education Application & Information
(For ALS Continuing Education, please send your request directly to the SD Board of Medical & Osteopathic Examiners at sdbmoe@state.sd.us)
National Registry certification is required for entry into the state EMS System for all recognized levels. All Advanced Life Support providers are required to be licensed through the South Dakota Board of Medical and Osteopathic Examiners. It is recommended that you maintain your National Registry certification.
The Emergency Medical Services Program reviews and approves BLS continuing education training to ensure that it is appropriate for recertification purposes following the National Continued Competency Program (NCCP) and National Registry’s EMR and EMT Recertification requirements.
All agencies or training centers offering BLS continuing education are required to submit the BLS Continuing Education Application form to the EMS Program two weeks prior to the beginning of the training date by logging into their account on the E-Licensing Portal.
