A nursing student, inactive LPN/RN, and a medication aide endorsing from another state/jurisdiction may apply to the Board to waive the 16-hour theory portion of a Medication Aide Training Program (MATP).
Medication Aide Training Waiver - Not Registered
Applicants must:
- Submit the Training Waiver Application and supporting documentation to the Board;

- After approval is granted to waive the training, the applicant must complete the 4-hours of clinical/lab instruction with an approved instructor, the skills competency evaluation, and pass the MATP's final exam.
Registered UMA Training Waiver
Applicants must:
- Submit the Nursing Student or Inactive RN/LPN UMA Waiver Application; or if
- Endorsing from another state, submit the UMA Endorsement Waiver Application;

- After approval is granted to waive the training, the applicant must complete the 4-hours of clinical/lab instruction with an approved instructor, including skills competency evaluation; and
- All applicants must pass the Board's UMA exam and be listed on the UMA registry.
