South Dakota Family Planning Program
The South Dakota Family Planning Program is devoted to providing family planning services to males and females of reproductive age. Family planning services help women and men determine if and when they want to have a child. The program helps keep people healthy and protects their ability to have children in the future.

- Client education and counseling
- Annual exams (check-ups)
- Full range of birth control information and supplies
- Pregnancy testing counseling and referrals
- Screening for sexually transmitted infections
- Screening for breast and cervical cancer and other health issues
- Community education
- Follow-up and referrals for social and medical issues

Family Planning Eligibility and Fee Scale
Services are provided to anyone capable of reproduction, regardless of age, sex, religion, race, color, national origin, creed, handicap, number of pregnancies, marital status, or income.
A sliding fee scale is used. Fees are based on family size and income.
At your first appointment, you will be asked to provide proof of your current income. Your most recent 1040 tax form or paycheck stub can serve as proof of income.
No one is denied services based on inability to pay.

Family Planning Program Funding
The program is funded through the federal Title X family planning grant and the Maternal and Child Health Block Grant. Client fees and donations provide remaining program funding.
