UMA Registration Renewal

Questions

Notice:  As of November 27, 2022, only medication aides who administer medications to clients in a skilled nursing facility/nursing home, assisted living center, or hospital are registered by the Board.  Medication aides in other settings may still accept delegated medication tasks by a nurse.  When renewing, you will be asked to provide evidence of employment, if you are not employed in one of these settings, your UMA registry status will be placed on inactive status.   Click Here for more information.

Renewal Information

Registrants may renew 90 days or less prior to expiration:
  • Must demonstrate a minimum of 12 hours of employment as a medication aide who administered medications to clients/residents in a skilled nursing facility (SNF), assisted living center (ALC), or hospital within the preceding 2 years;
  • Must submit the online UMA Renewal Application
  • After review and approval by the Board, the UMA registry will be updated;
  • Applicants will not be sent a renewed UMA registration card.  Cards may be printed from the Verification Site.

Lapsed registration

A lapsed registration is not active.  Nurses in a skilled nursing facility, assisted living center, or hospital cannot delegate medication administration tasks to a UMA who has lapsed.

  • Print and submit the paper application: UMA Renewal Application;
  • An employer must complete the employment verification section, verifying 12 hours of employment within the last 2 years in a SNF, ALC, or hospital;
  • After Review and approval by the Board, the registry will be updated;
  • Applicants will not be sent a renewed registration card. Cards may be printed from the Verification Site.

If UMA does not have 12-hours of employment:

The individual must retrain, retest, and apply for initial registration: Click Here for UMA instructions
