Milestones Matter

From birth to age 5, your child should reach milestones in how he or she plays, learns, speaks, acts, and moves. You do not need to wait for a doctor’s referral or a medical diagnosis to have your child’s growth and development screened. There are many providers that can assist you in completing an Ages & Stages Questionnaire or assist you in identifying a resource that can provide a developmental screening:

Resources:

Learn the Signs. Act Early (CDC)
Birth to Three (South Dakota Department of Education)
Head Start (South Dakota Department of Education)
Ages & Stages Questionnaires®, Third Edition (Easter Seals) – be sure to share results with your provider
