The South Dakota TB Control Program provides free medication for suspect and active TB cases as well as persons diagnosed with latent TB infection who are residents of South Dakota. All TB medication is provided free of charge without regard to the patient’s ability to pay. TB medication will only be provided with a written prescription by the patient’s physician and must be provided through a local Department of Health nurse. All medication is processed and labeled through a contract pharmacy. Health-care personnel who are requesting a patient be started on TB medications may call the local Office of Disease Prevention (Disease Intervention Offices) or the TB Control Program Coordinator at (605) 773-3737 or 1-800-592-1861 (in-state only).
