Phase 1 Grants
In 2006, the South Dakota Department of Health awarded $601,724 in pandemic influenza grants to 21 community planning projects representing about half the state’s counties and two-thirds of its population. This round of funding is commonly referred to as Phase I. (Phase 1 grant awards)
Applications are currently being accepted for the2008 program for both new and continuation projects.
Since 2006, South Dakota has provided grants to health care entities, city, county and tribal governments to support local pandemic influenza planning.
Phase 2
A second round of grants, Phase II, was awarded in 2007. This round of funding consisted of three separate funding opportunities:
Phase 3
A third phase of pandemic flu community planning grant funding was announced in the spring of 2008. Phase 3 will target new projects not previously funded and will also offer continuation grants for communities already funded, but requiring additional support to strengthen their response plans. In the fall of 2008, Phase 3 will also offer another round of equipment, gaps and barriers grant funding.
