Assistance with Transportation Needs

In an effort to make healthcare more accessible in rural areas, the American Cancer Society has awarded a $10,000 Access to Treatment Grant to River Cities Public Transit in Pierre.  The main goal of the grant is to improve rural access to cancer treatment in Rapid City, Sioux Falls, Watertown, Aberdeen, Mitchell, Pierre and Yankton.  Although cancer treatment access is the program's main focus, people with diabetes who have transportation barriers are also welcome to use the service.  Transportation is available for those residing in Sully, Hughes, Stanley, Jones, Lynn, Hyde and Potter counties. If you need a ride to treatment contact River Cities Transit at 945-2360.  Caregivers ride for free.

The American Cancer Society is dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer through research, education, advocacy and service.
