Sioux Falls - South Dakota State Penitentiary (males)
Jameson Annex is a high security area as well as the admitting unit for all adult males who are incarcerated. This is where the medical record is generated, physicals, mental health evaluations, dental evaluations are completed here. A-Unit has a specialized mental health section as well as disciplinary sections. B and D Units are located in this building. All new inmates live on B Unit until their orientation to prison has been completed. The infirmary and Comfort Care room are also located in Jameson.
Unit C is a separate building in which the trusty inmates are housed.
Hill houses maximum security and medium security inmates.
A Clinical Coordinator and Charge Nurses direct daily work assignments in the clinics and on the units.
Springfield - Mike Durfee State Prison (males)
Mike Durfee State Prison is a medium security prison. The Health Services Building is staffed with nursing staff 24 hours a day and include the medical clinic, dental clinic, an infirmary and a comfort care room for terminally ill inmates.
The Correctional Health Clinical Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operations of this clinic as well as those at the male trusty units in Yankton and Rapid City. A Clinical Coordinator and Charge Nurse direct daily work assignments at the units.
Pierre -South Dakota Women’s Prison (females)
The Women's Prison houses both high and medium security inmates. It is also the admissions unit for all adult females where the medical record is generated and physicals, mental health evaluations, and dental evaluations are completed. It includes a separate H Unit, located in another building, which houses Intensive Methamphetamine Program inmates. Inmates who are pregnant when incarcerated receive care from an OB/GYN specialist.
The Correctional Health Clinical Supervisor is responsible for the day- to-day operations. A Charge Nurse directs daily work assignments.
