TELEPHONIC MEETING MINUTES
October 25, 2010

Attendance:
Board members present via telephone were Dr. Kollis-Young, Dr. Bartlett, Dr. Garrity, Dr. Hartford, and Nancy Van Camp. Also present were Naomi Cromwell, in person at the Tieszen Law Office, Pierre, SD, and Deni Amundson, Board Executive Secretary, in person at the Board of Optometry office, Langford, SD, both locations having been noticed as available for public access.
The board discussed increasing the minimum required continuing education hours from 36 hours every three years to 45 hours every three years. Deni Amundson presented information from the South Dakota Optometric Society indicating they are in favor of the increase. Dr. Bartlett motioned to approve the increase to 45 hours every three years. The change will be effective at the first year of each optometrist’s three year period. Dr. Garrity seconded, passed by unanimous roll call vote.
Dr. Bartlett motioned to change the current proposed 8 hour minimum of self directed learning per three year period to 9 hours minimum. Dr. Hartford seconded, passed by unanimous roll call vote.
Dr. Bartlett motioned to adjourn. Nancy Van Camp seconded, motion passed by roll call vote.
