Board Meeting Minutes

BOARD MEETING
April 28, 2006
Tieszen Law Office Conference Room
Pierre, South Dakota
12:00 p.m.  

  1. Attendance: Present were Ann Meyer, Attorney General's office and Naomi Cromwell, Tieszen Law Office. Board members present were Dr. Olson, Dr. Stekly, Dr. Bartlett, Dr. Garrity, Donna Melvin, Dr. Watson, and on speakerphone Deni Amundson. 

  2. Dr. Bartlett moved, seconded by Dr. Stekly, to approve the minutes of February 16, 2006. Motion passed.

  3. Treasurer's Report: As of March 31, 2006, the balance is $17,544.54. Last year at the same time it was $21,820.00. Motion was made by Dr. Bartlett, seconded by Donna Melvin, t approve the treasurer's report. Motion passed.

  4. Board reviewed and approved CE courses:

    a. Midwest Vision Congress - May 13, 2006, Rosemont, IL
    b. SDOS speaker Dr. John Crane 04/27/06 4 hours.
    c. Nebraska CE at Ramkota Inn in Rapid City, Dr. Skorin, COPE approved, 6 hrs. 7/14-16/06.
    d. Dr. Sherman will be speaker at Fall SDOS meeting.

    Dr. Garrity moved, seconded by Dr. Bartlett, to approve all four CE courses.

  5. Old Business
    a. CPT Codes. Dr. Stekly moved, seconded by Donna Melvin, to go into closed session. Motion carried. Board came out of closed session, Dr. Bartlett moves, seconded by Dr. Garrity, to accept the list of CPT codes as presented. Motion carried.

    b. Rule change: Public hearing will me May 31, 2006 at 9:00 a.m. in Tieszen Office and rule review hearing will be June 13, 2006 Room 413 of the Capitol Building.
    — Rule 20:50:08:05 (inactive or out of state license)
    — Rule 20:50:02:04.03 (endorsement - 10 items)
    — Rule 20:50:02:08 (annual renewal fee)
    — Rule 20:50:04:12 (scope of practice-procedural codes)

    Dr. Watson reviewed his proposed report to be presented to LRC in June.

  6. New Business
    a. Delegate to ARBO meeting-June 18-20, 2006-Las Vegas - Dr. Stekly will represent South Dakota at the ARBO meeting.

    b. Terms on the Board are up for Donna Melvin, Dr. Garrity, and Dr. Stekly and all three are willing to serve another term.

    c. Review new contracts for 2006-07. All contracts with the Dept. of Health are ready to be sent out. All contract fees are the same as 2005-06 year with the salary adjustment of Deni Amundson.

    9:00 - noon, September 7, 2006, at the Tieszen Law Office, Pierre SD
