Follow the instructions completely. Your application must be completed in its entirety and submitted with your $75 fee for licensure or $40 fee for temporary permit or it will be returned to you.
**UNLICENSED PRACTICE AS A RESPIRATORY CARE PRACTITIONER IS A CRIMINAL OFFENSE IN VIOLATION OF SDCL 36-4C. THE BOARD INTENDS THIS NOTIFICATION TO SERVE AS NOTICE UPON YOU THAT UNLICENSED PRACTICE IS UNPROFESSIONAL CONDUCT, A VIOLATION OF THE ABOVE CODIFIED LAWS, AND GROUNDS FOR DENIAL OF LICENSURE.**

License Procedure = Primary Source Verification CANNOT be faxed or emailed.
- Complete application form and file at Board office;
- Submit fee of $75;
- Submit Verification of Employment; for all employment past and present
- Examination scores directly from NBRC;
- Submit verification of state licenses currently or previously held;
- Submit verification that you have graduated from a respiratory education program accredited by the NBRC (National Board for Respiratory Care);
- Renewal application and fee are due prior to January 1, every odd numbered year (Jan 1, 2009).
Temporary Permit
(This permit is for RCP students who have not yet taken the NBRC examination
for the first time.)
- Complete application form and file at Board office;
- Submit fee of $40;
- Submit statement including name and address of employer during time of temporary permit;
- Submit a letter to our office from your program director each semester, stating that you are still successfully enrolled in the program;
- Temporary permit is nonrenewable and expires 3 months from the date of graduation.
