All Women Count! Chronic Disease Screening Program

Rx Access

Rx Access helps women with alert levels of blood pressure, cholesterol and blood glucose access patient assistance programs that supply prescription medications at low or no cost. Rx Access is not a financial assistance program that gives money for medication purchase. Instead, it provides access to some drug companies' patient assistance programs for free or reduced-cost medication. Many screening sites already have this service available to patients in their clinic. It is entirely appropriate for clinic systems to continue for all patients. However, if clinics need assistance in assuring that All Women Count! Chronic Disease Screening Program participants have the medications they require, this service is available through the Department of Health. The program includes the services of a pharmacist who may consult with a participant's primary care provider if necessary.

Eligibility

A woman may be eligible for Rx Access if she meets the following requirements.

To apply for Rx Access, print off the intake form, complete and send to the address listed below (Use ADOBE). If you need assistance of any kind, call:

Colette Beshara
All Women Count! Program
South Dakota Department of Health

Once the form is received in the All Women Count! office:

Notes

Expect 6-8 weeks from the date the intake form(s) is received in the All Women Count! office to the date the medications are delivered.

Medications can only be delivered to the clinic which submitted the request. PO Box numbers cannot be used.

Each patient assistance program has different qualifications so the process of application varies as does the turn around time.

Requests for refills of medications are automatically generated by the Rx Access Program according to the specific patient assistance program's parameters (usually every 3 months).

A new intake form is required if there are major changes in medications or if a client moves.

More information about Rx Access is available at this site, including links to pharmaceutical companies that provide medication assistance directly to consumers.
